Vanilla Scented Candles - Review

Vanilla scented candles are some of the most popular.  Part of it is the comforting aroma of vanilla; part is that vanilla smells clean.  Not quite flowery, but a rich fragrance all its own.

Here are some of the vanilla scented candles that you'll find in the shop.

French Vanilla

This is a true, rich vanilla, not cluttered by flowers or fruits.  I've always loved the scent of a vanilla bean, but had a hard time with all the vanilla room sprays and candles that I had smelled.  They were all too sharp or flowery or something else.  Hardly any vanilla.

So it was with some reluctance that I tried French Vanilla, and you know what?  I should never have waited!  This was the vanilla I had been seeking all these years.

It does rather remind me of French Vanilla ice cream, after it's melted down a bit.  The scent is subtle and pleasing, yet still very richly scented.

This is one of my absolute favorites and I always keep some in the house.  It's also formed the basis of some of my favorite scent blends -- it mixes well with just about anything.  It's also usually one of the top 3 scents every month.

If you love a rich vanilla scent without any other competing fragrance, this is for you.

Chili Vanilli

Well, I had to try this after I saw the description as being a cross between Sweet Orange and Chile with Vanilla.  I wasn't quite sure what it make of it, but since I loved the French Vanilla -- why not?

This fragrance is a little hard to describe.  I've said before that Sweet Orange and Chile Pepper reminds me of a ripe grapefruit.  However, the addition of vanilla to this scent highlights the orange notes.  It's not quite so citrusy anymore, and moves into the slightly sweet range.

Still, there is a base note of vanilla. Although it's not quite a "creamsicle" scent, it's moving in that direction.

It's definitely different than French Vanilla, and perhaps not for everyone.  That being said, this scent has grown on me and now it's one of my favorites.

More Vanilla Scented Candles

Here are a few more of the vanilla scented candles you will find in the shop:

Antique Lace & Linen -- Jasmine and vanilla with a base note of musk.  Strangely, this one doesn't smell very strong -- until you light it.  Then the scent becomes stronger.

Butter Cream Frosting -- Yep, smells like it sounds!  Enjoy the fragrance without the calories.

Sugar Cookie -- You know the scent of real vanilla-based sugar cookies, the kind you bake at Christmas?  This is it!

Tahitian Spiced Vanilla -- Mingles Tahitian vanilla (yes, there is such a thing) with spices that you find in your cupboards.

White Chocolate and Coffee -- Strange, I know, but this very much has a deep vanilla base.   (You can see the full review on the chocolate scented candle page.)

The Vanilla Aromatherapy Candle Fragrance

Vanilla is traditionally an aromatherapy relaxation scent, but there are other uses as well.

According to some studies, the vanilla fragrance was also used to calm a queasy stomach.

And even better, vanilla was found to help in weight loss; participants in the study were less likely to snack on sugary foods, which in turn helped calm their cravings. Which then helped them eat less and lose weight!

Here's to vanilla scented candles!
