About the Candles

Mia Bella's gourmet candles are the best in the business, for several reasons.  And it's these reasons together that make a candle sales business a great home business!

Now I'll admit that I am prejudiced towards Mia Bella candles -- after all, I am a distributor (and user) of the candles!  But I have a good reason.  Because when I started researching a home candle business, I looked at *all* the major candle home business organizations.  These are the things I looked at:

  • How much could I make per candle -- what was the commission?
  • Were the candles reasonably priced?  (I used the cost of the Yankee Candles brand for cost-comparisons.)
  • Are the candles quality?  In other words, once someone has bought the candles, will they want to come back and buy more?
  • Do I get an online store? Is it free?
  • How easy is it for customers to find what they want in the online store?  Is checkout easy? Are the candles shipped promptly?
  • What are the startup costs and the ongoing (monthly) costs?  What do I get for those costs?
  • What kind of wax are the candles made from?  Are they all-natural or do they include paraffin?   What about soot?
  • Is there a wide variety of fragrances from which to choose?
  • How do I get paid, and how often?
  • And finally, can I make money in other ways, more than just retailing if I so choose?

When all was said and done, the Mia Bella candles won hands down!  It wasn't even close.  That being said, take a look at the answers.

Making Money With Mia Bella Candles

Here are the answers to the questions I asked above.

  • How much could I make per candle -- what was the commission? Based on the suggested retail price, my commission is about 50%. The closest competitor was 35%
  • Were the candles reasonably priced?  (I used the cost of the Yankee Candles brand for cost-comparisons.) Yes, very reasonably priced -- even a bit less than Yankee Candle!
  • Are the candles quality?  In other words, once someone has bought the candles, will they want to come back and buy more? I ordered a candle before joining and was immediately impressed with the quality. I personally would have bought more, even had I not joined.
  • Do I get an online store? Is it free?   Yes, and it is free. Click here if you want to see what the store looks like.
  • How easy is it for customers to find what they want in the online store?  Is checkout easy? Are the candles shipped promptly? I bought from the online store before I joined. Mia Bella's candle store was easy to navigate, looked professional. Checkout was simple and the candle was indeed shipped promptly (and well packaged, I might add).
  • What are the startup costs and the ongoing (monthly) costs?  What do I get for those costs?   The startup was $50 with shipping.  Ongoing month costs are $39.95 plus shipping. For each I get a 16-ounce jar candle, a dozen votives and a "Bella Bar" soy soap. It is a different scent each month.
  • What kind of wax are the candles made from?  Are they all-natural or do they include paraffin?   What about soot? The Mia Bella candles are made totally from vegetable wax -- no paraffin. They are 95% soot free, with the only soot being produced is from the wick itself.
  • Is there a wide variety of fragrances from which to choose? Oh my yes! There are about 90 fragrances.
  • How do I get paid, and how often? I get paid immediately if I sell face-to-face. If people order from my online store, I am paid monthly. I can elect to get a check or have the money direct-deposited.
  • And finally, can I make money in other ways, more than just retailing if I so choose? Yes, I can make money retailing, though fundraising and by building a candle organization. I can choose one, two or all three options and can change them at any time.

Whew!  I was a bit exhausted by the time I had completed my research, but I was not about to get into a business where I didn't believe in the product, not to mention the company!  I've joined too many home business organizations in the past that didn't live up to their promises.

I'm now glad and proud to be representing Mia Bella candles!

Are They Triple-Scented Candles?

Yes indeed!  The candles are made from vegetable waxes that can hold even more fragrance than soy wax!  You can practically scent a room just by leaving the top off one of the jars.

Do the Candles Burn Cleanly?

Very much so. The company calls the candles 95% soot-free, because the wick can cause soot when it burns.

Flameless candles are the only kind that can be totally soot-free (and Mia Bella carries them, too -- called Mia Melts).

Where Are the Mia Bella Candles Made?

The candles are made in the USA, at the company headquarters in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania.

The candles are hand-poured and the company employs people in the local community.
