The Advent Candle Meaning
The Advent candle meaning goes back many years. With the darkness of the days and nights leading up to Christmas, the candle provided light.
Candles also symbolized the hope for Spring and renewal, which seemed so far away, during the darkest days of the year.
Advent means the coming of something; in this case, Advent is the coming of Jesus Christ into this world. As such, the candle also symbolized the light of God.
Advent Candles
Advent is celebrated in the Western churches on the four weeks preceeding Christmas. The candles are traditionally placed into a wreath of evergreens. The tradition of the wreath itself comes from the Germanic peoples of Europe, and later spread throughout Europe and to the rest of the world.
Candles are lit each day during the Advent season. One candle is lit on the first week, usually during evening prayers, or at least before evening's dinner.
Two candles are lit the second week; three the week after, and the fourth week, all four are lit at night.
The Candle Colors
The candles for Advent have different colors. Three of the candles are purple (violet), while the fourth one is rose (pink). However, should any of the colors be a problem, either four violet candles or four white candles can be substituted.
When using violet and rose candles, the violet are lit in weeks one through three, while the rose candle is lit the final week of Advent.

The Advent candle meaning as far as the purple color is that purple is the color of royalty. It is also the traditiional church colors for the season, for the four weeks preceeding Christmas.
Wreaths using other colors are decorative, but are not technically true Advent wreaths.

Discount soy candles are a popular alternative to a "regular" discount scented candle. Regular discount candles tend to be made of paraffin wax, which doesn't always burn as cleanly as soy.
That being said, soy wax does normally cost more than paraffin wax. So your goal? To find a good soy candle that has been discounted.
Buying Discount Soy Candles
Soy is known as a fragrance candle, as it holds more scent than regular candle wax. This is a good thing, if you are looking for an aromatic candle.

However, there can still be problems in your discount soy candles; here's what to watch for.
- Excessive scent. I know, this doesn't really seem to be a problem, but it really can be. The reason? If a candle is overloaded in scent, it won't burn cleanly...in other words, soot.
- A tall pillar. Soy is a very soft wax, more suitable for container and votives. Short pillars are also a possibility, but tall pillars very likely have other waxes mixed in. (Which isn't necessarily a problem unless you are wanting only soy wax in the candle.)
- A jar candle that has a very small neck. This can cause two problems -- excess sooting and the candle just not burning right because it doesn't get enough oxygen.
- Tall, narrow jar discount soy candles. Similar to the above, a tall (over 5 inches at the opening) jar candle won't let enough oxygen to the candle once it burns 1/3 to 1/2 of the wax.
So those of some of the things to watch out for, when buying your discount soy candles. As I mentioned before, if you can find excellent-quality soy wax candles at a sale price, you'd get the best of both world.
